Ok, well first off knowing music theory is always a good thing, it will help you compose better, but knowing it wont help you produce better. I mean there are a lot of good tunes out there that aren't composition masterpieces, Burial comes to mind, I mean, a lot of his tunes aren't orchestral grade ...

My workhorse synths are Sylenthe1, Massive, Z3TA+2, MiniMoogV and newly Albino3. I'm pretty new to the whole witch scene, and it seems a lot of people are very analog. Which is cool and all, but I'm first and foremost a garage and bass music producer, so using a DAW and software is just the best way...
