Re: rap/hip-hop

Regarding Donald Glover, 'Freaks and Geeks' is dope but I just can't get into anything else.

Re: WIK▲N - MODUL▲R WITCHCR▲FT EP

Sorry to bump, but I listened to this right after it was released and really, really liked it. KOVEN is my favourite (though the entire EP is fantastic); it reminds me of Ferry Corsten playing a grave rave in the foggy mid-morning to hungover teenagers. I love the synth work -- like I said, reminds ...

Re: When is a song remix and when can it be called original

That's a good way to look at it Anton, and probably the way I would too.

With, say, Ʌ's remix of Nelly Furtado's 'Say It Right' you can tell it was intended all along to simply be a remix.

If I do end up checking this out I hope it's better than Oakland. I was bitterly disappointed by that one.

Re: Critique / Feedback Topic?

Teacake, there is nothing that I can fault about your production. I imagine that coming from the dubstep background might have educated you somewhat on the importance of proper production. I really like the distortion on your synths and the reverb on your drums. The only criticism I can even think o...

Re: Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?

Someone posted 'Roses' by White Ring on another forum I visit, and I fell in love. I just kept googling and googling and found more stuff. I loved the sound so much that I started to make some witch house - it was very basic, clean, synthy, sample-driven. One track was sort of popular on SoundCloud ...

Yeah, I'm not seeing any witch house influence at all in this.

Re: Dubstep V.S Witch House

Absolutely. I think Salem probably beats the rest as they have that landmark LP which will probably always be considered a definitive statement of the genre. You're right about Skream, I always forget about his work when I fawn over Burial. You seem to know a lot about dubstep -- how long were those...

Chrissy Murderbot and Jamie Grind have been my only excursions into Juke so far, I meant to pick up something by DJ Nate but it hasn't happened. Yet.

Re: rap/hip-hop

Lex Luger is my current favorite hip hop producer. His beats are hard and dark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVsE19MkNGY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gquEtk3Sk90 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fP-mHniqUJ0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijf2GkeDGgU Lex Luger is great, I'll probably be trying to ...
