GO TO THIS IF YOU'RE IN SAN FRANCISCO / OAKLAND / BERKELEY

Tundra crew will be in full effect. Let's go!

$5 before 11pm $8 after, 21+
GATEKEEPER (NYC)
http://www.myspace.com/iiigatekeeperiii

for the first time ever in SF...
"Electronic duo Gatekeeper may be self-described perfectionists, but their carefully composed “horror scores for the dance floor” (to borrow a term from Brooklyn music promoter Todd Pendu) feel like flights of macabre fantasy. Informed by Chicago house and industrial music, Detroit techno, ‘70s and '80s library records, and Wendy Carlos’ Switched On Bach, their work combines camp theatricality with skeletal simplicity, soundtracking the eternity of the desert as poignantly as it might "John Carpenter’s New York, silhouetted by a full moon.” -altered zones
straight up horror score dance music...gatekeeper is the shit.
"pure suburban hoodrat thrills, over-amped electronic music made for teenage metalheads playing coin-op games in grotty strip mall arcades. "

120 MINUTES (http://www.facebook.com/120MINUTES) is a video dance club and showcase for independent music featuring live bands, live dj's, live visuals, and strong drinx at the Elbo Room in San Francisco. Our focus is the dark and bass heavy... witch house, deathrock, goth, drag, rap, chopped and screwed... whatever moniker you have to use to describe us is your own business... but we kill it.

Resident DJ's oOoOO, NAKO and WhITCH spin everything from SALEM to Wu-Tang, from Sisters of Mercy to Dragged out Nicki Minaj... and all in between; including exclusive remixes as well as custom videos and visuals.

oOoOO
(http://www.myspace.com/wkwkwkwkwkwkwkwk)

so everyone and their mother's blog have something to say about the homie... but he himself remains for the most part... cryptic. there, to my knowledge, is not a single decent (stress decent) bio written about oOoOO, and personally i think that makes a lot of sense. his music and taste speak volumes though... if for whatever reason, you've been under a rock for awhile, check the shit out... life changing.

NAKO
(http://www.facebook.com/nakoeth)
nako is a san francisco staple. between popscene and shutter she's had a hand in nearly every show you've given a fuck about in the last several years... and now she's ours.

WhITCH
(http://www.myspace.com/suicidemixtape)

WhITCH (Marco Vega/Santa Muerte) has been Djing and throwing events in San Francisco for over 8 years. Mixing together records, visuals, and performance art elements WhITCH presents a juxtaposition of pop culture and lighthearted critique to engage the audience in thoughtful dialogue and sweaty dancing... or some shit.

SPECIAL GUEST DJ's:
ROBERT DISARO (LA/HOUSTON)
The homie runs one of the most important and prolific labels in independent music to date... having put out releases from SALEM, oOoOO, WHITE RING, WATER BORDERS, etc... To say that Disaro is a tastemaker is an understatement. Not to mention as a DJ he fuckin' holds it down, playing along side everyone from WHITE CAR to LCD SOUNDSYSTEM.

SARAH TOON (KILLING SPREE/LA):
just check out the killing spree mixtape THE FILTER just put out...
sick.

GATEKEEPER KILLED IT. So loud, so many lights and lazers... Marco aka WhiTCH did a great job planning and running the show!

There's a top secret, live show being planned by some of the Tundra folk so we'll be booking shows soon...I want to play LA/San Diego real bad, so maybe we can talk about it soon...

& As The World Continues Shrinking

Closing In On Me Like A Necktie...

(Actually, nah: no telenovela; that's a 'look' I can live with, actually.)

₱ ᴓ ༎ † . B Ξ ¡ и Զ :

I fucking L〇VE Nako, & have serious history with that adorable little thang. We've been pals since her nascent days behind the decks, w-a-ay back in ancient history when she was a student at UC Santa Cruz & would drive up to the city to spin under the moniker 'Fuchsia.'

For two 'O.G.' points, S e e . I f . Y o u . C a n . S p o t . H e r . H e r e [zwei mahl!] among the bat-tastic set.

Image

Ha! & in the name of all that is not holy: I just scrolled past photographic evidence of the Death Rock Nellie Olsen kick I was on at the time (with those fucking bitchy silver ringlet curls & unapologetic glare) & emitted a violent snortaugh in response. Yesh yesh, I'm all portmanteauriffic about it UP IN HURR today, mashin' up terms like "snort" & "laugh" as if they're but the peanut butter to my sandwich.

UmmYeah, W O W—I should either limit these tangential rants to the LOS7 ▲NGLE55 group, or recruit Maxx Renn of the mighty morphing names to come over here (& deflect from my own insanity somewhat...or that's the idea, at least)

So. The show! Friggin' excellent to hear it went well, & agree: you should definitely, definitely plan an excursion to this smog-ridden terrain "on the A.S.A.P"s.

Ah, & you know I have to ask: was everything cool with Disaro/his set? He was on-point last Wednesday eve (which I need to respond to folks about...f me & my "garrulous tendencies!"). Also noticed you listed Sara by her birth name, rather than DJ ~handle. She's really nice, that one—so when I asked Zane if she'd never heard of *COUGH!* BLΛCK RΛ!NB0VV ?

Let the subject drop. There are—after all—two bands who go by Black Rainbow, as it is...

Gotta head out now, but have a obnoxious green Post-It to see what releases you—as in: Ben/Tundra—have forthcoming.

& speaking of obnoxious... Another "Nako moment" to complete the circle:

Everything was cool with Disaro/Sarah Toon's b2b set.

I've got loads of stuff coming out. The AIMON EP next week, the FUNERALS single with the Jokers of the Scene Remix, more Eye Double Cross in April and May, Zombelle, Os Ovni/Modern Witch 7", and a side on the Robot Elephant 12" coming out in August.
