Tundra Dubs
https://soundcloud.com/tundra-dubs
Hello all,
Tundra, as you may know, is a fairly new experimental music label based out of San Francisco. At the moment, we're working with a lot of witch house, drag, drone, and noise artists.
Discography on Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/label/220139-Tundra-Dubs
I'll regularly be posting upcoming releases, mixes, and other news related to Tundra and it's artists.
Update 11/24: The Lesser Keys EP is out now! Also, GHXST's new EP has been pushed back to December 7th.
Out Now ::
TND009: GuMMy†Be▲R 'Spectral Analysis' [Digital] buy + preview: http://bit.ly/exU5e3 / Digital Tunes "Our Pick!"
"Spectral Analysis EP has a somewhat different atmosphere. The beat is still very important, but not as prominent as in his older tracks and this time G†B paid more attention to developing the percussion in its entirety. [...] I think that Spectral Analysis is GuMMy†Be▲R!’s best release up to date and I’m curious about what he will come up with next." - Clap Clap Colour
"...I hastily downloaded the jam and hit play. Like some sort of robot with a monotone voice I thought out loud, “This is awesome…” And let me tell you, it really really is." - Cactus Mouth
TND008: I†† 'The Lesser Keys EP' [Digital] buy + preview: http://bit.ly/fEUKYi / video by Kemikore:
"...the new EP from I†† continues the course of events laid out in the full Preliminary Invocations album released last month. The tracks here increase the atmosphere to something more subtly filmic, eventful, almost score like…." - Warren Ellis
TND001: Ghoul + FluiD EP [CDR / Digital] buy + preview: http://bit.ly/aB8qta
"...San Francisco producer Ben Versluis aka Ghoul meets up with Chicago based Christophe G. aka FluiD, creating a stunning, four-track EP where deep and grimy hip-hop beats are blending in with elements of dubstep." - No Fear of Pop
Out Soon ::
TND002: GHXST 'Evil After Dark' [CDR / Digital] preview: http://bit.ly/bPf4vc / Out Dec. 7th
NYC's own shoegaze all-stars turn in their year-old EP, "Evil's Wasted On You," to be remixed by SF-based producer, DJ, and Tundra label boss Ghoul. Expect radical reworks with dark, distorted basslines and tempos never exceeding 120. Be sure to check out the first track, "Flowers of Evil (Ghoul RMX)" on GHXST's Bandcamp page.
TND010: M△S▴C△RA EP [Digital] previews up soon / Out Dec. 7th
3 track digital EP including a seminal collaboration with Ç⋵ℜ⋻ðℷa⇂ ╀ (Ceremonial Dagger).
TND011: M▲R▲5 EP [Digital] previews up soon / Out Dec. 21st
4 track EP of exceptionally dark and brooding drone, noise, and fragmented beats. Expect big things from this EP.

The only CDR out at the moment is the Ghoul + FluiD CDR. However, we're releasing two new CDRs at the end of this month.kukhuvud wrote:Where can a person order the cdr's?
You can get all CDRs via our Bandcamp page @ http://tundradub.bandcamp.com

Tundra has all the good artists that aren't on Disaro. Fact.
Music that's good (to an extent) goes here.

Nice. More wax please.
Do people still buy CDRs? Just don't see the value over digital-only releases.
P.S. For the record, I've purchased MANY Tundra albums via Bandcamp.

I still buy cdr's. I have a closet filled with boxes of cd's that will still exist even if all my hard drives and backup tapes spontaneously combusted.
Re: Tundra 2011 - New Releases, Vinyl, etc.
Yes, I buy CDRs, and people have been requesting physical releases from me. That has made me beg labels that are releasing my material to put it out on any physical medium possible. If that means CDR, so be it. CDRs are also great to share at shows... Local indie record stores... Though, I am still reaching for the vinyl

Re: Tundra 2011 - New Releases, Vinyl, etc.
First off, thanks to EVERYONE who's bought anything in the past and a special thanks to those who's continued support make this job a lot easier! It's really easy to torrent/download stuff for free, so there's a special place in Tundra for those who actually buy stuff.
Vinyl/digital is the future of Tundra, for certain. I've got a lot of other possible vinyl releases in the works, but nothing cemented yet.
People are buying CDRs, still. The AIMON CDR sold out very quickly - but, it's my belief that it's because the music is so good. If it had been a tape, it would've sold the same way.

Totally OT, but my wife has authorized the purchase of two of these to store our media in.... so keep the cd(r)'s coming!

Jesus! That's fucking epic.kukhuvud wrote:Totally OT, but my wife has authorized the purchase of two of these to store our media in.... so keep the cd(r)'s coming!
To be honest, I'll probably always do CDRs. They're low cost, easy to customize, easy to do in limited runs, etc.
I'd like to include bonus CDRs with future vinyl orders, etc.
For new CDRs, I'd check out Black Bvs - they're doing really nice looking CDRs.
Re: Tundra 2011 - New Releases, Vinyl, etc.
Agreed on the CDR tip as long as there's some effort in its production. That said, what sort of paint have people been using on the discs themselves? Spray?

Re: Tundra 2011 - New Releases, Vinyl, etc.
CDRs give a label and the artists the chance to work very experimental. Even if a label will sell only 5 copies of a CDR it will be no financial desaster.
It's always nicer to have artwork in hand (if it's a professional print) than only a picture on screen. Collectible if there is a system in design and sound.
Btw PD-011 (Mater Suspiria Vision - ON TV 4) will be with handmade triangle packaging + stand (we really like the idea of handmade stuff and will continue in this even if this is lot of work)
