i was wondering if anybody knew of some arabic/egyptian sounding witch house songs, i know of some like Zombelle & Myrrh Ka Ba's "Tropocalypse", oOoOO's "EGYPYNLVR", Fatima Al Qadiri/Ayshay's songs and most of Pyramids of Mu songs, those are the kind of artist im going for, i love that sound of the ouds, nayatiti and of course the nayflute. i would love to find artists that mix that egyptian/arabic sound with the gloomy dark witch house synths and beats. anyways any help would be fab

LOVE this thread! As soon as I discovered the 'dark indie' dance genre some refer to as 'witch haus', I was immediately drawn to anything that had a middle eastern/arabic/hindu feel to it. Just discovered Men In Burka, I LOVE Fatima al Qadiri(witch house from kuwait? Im sold!), love that track "Mumbai" from oOoOO. Love that "empire of man" video
from Mascara. Love that one fostercare video with the islamic chant sample on repeat. Im currently working on a couple songs with a heavy Arabic sound interwoven with dark trappyness and old world instrumentation. Im also a big fan of neofolk or world beat like Dead Can Dance, Jocelyn Pook and Loreena Mckennit.

I was going to recommend OObe's DELPHI tape, but then I realised who posted this, hah

If you like the eastern sounding influence, I would definitely recommend Michum

and Lilacs and Champagne
