Shameless Self-Promotion Pt.1:

Image

Right, I not fond of the all "wow listen to my stuffs" thing but I have a ... well... digital album/demo collection (9 tracks and over 50 min, hard to call that an EP) on my Soundcloud page available to download called Data Ghosts: http://soundcloud.com/marzipn/sets/data-ghosts/

I will post a direct download link later.

I had a quite cool review of it: http://fokkawolfe.blogspot.com/2011/03/ ... hosts.html
("Its good but I'm not sure I would listen to it much in the headphones while I'm out and about or I might end up stabbin someone with a plastic fork in some kind of paranoia induced panic attack then running for the nearest exit crying and needing to change my trousers double quick." Beat that, people! :D )

I don't like that hammer & sickle... something to do with family dying at the hands of Lenin, Trotsky, and Stalin...

zxz: I totally get why and I should have know someone would raise the issue. I assume a (apolitical) fascination with the soviet culture/soviet history. Apolitical because it's, I think, a very personal one.
I'm born 1983, grew up in France, with Soviet Union being the Big Bad Evil Empire of Doom, untill its downfall. After that, it's felt bit like if West Europe have "sweep the dust under the carpet" and have forgot about the Soviet Union. So I kind of using it in remembrance way rather than a political one.

Ah, well then there is no issue here.

Although... how would you react if I were to have apolitically adopted the National Socialist swastika as my logo? I mean, we've had the Holodomor (Ukrainian famine genocide of 7 to 10 million people, according to the plaque in Kiev dedicated in memoriam) under the hammer & sickle, so would the swastika be more offensive, in your opinion? Less people died under it, though the fact remains is that people died...

In addition, I have the bias in this debate as strict anti-Marxist.

I suppose I wouldn't listen that much to DIJ, Sol Invictus, Boyd Rice/NON, Burzum or Derniere Volonte :) (all of them being quite at the opposite of my political beliefs.)

Maybe it's not the right place to debate over it, but I believe than aesthetic doesn't/shouldn't have anything to do with political orientation. I agree it's hard to split what its political/philosophical and what is artistic over some of them, but I might have spend too much time into punk/industrial/whatever to not be able to see it "only" as shock value. Even if it's not the intent of people like Boyd Rice or Varg Vikerns.
I have to add than to some extend my fascination with the Soviet Union have more to do with the western perception of it rather than with the actual Soviet Union. In a way, I feel Soviet Union is still haunting our societies (Europe or US -I suppose- ) somewhat like a "guiltiness" or an "unsolved mater" (it's actually rather hard to express that feeling into words) and it's what interest me.

I dig your sound, and I don't care what political background you have.

I start to use this for my update and stuffs.
I uploaded few new tracks and remix on Soundcloud. I tried to move away from the drony synth and bombing rhythm.
