came across this cat on another forum, I really like him
http://hazbey.bandcamp.com/album/the-haz-ep

listening to loads of Odd Future, frank oceans nature feels is fantastic ( guess thats more R'n'B though... ) as well as Tical by meth - such a dope LP, jazzed out and dark and blunted - reminds me of Madlib ( though that should be the other way around I suppose ).

Yeah cLOUDDEAD was my favorite group of artists for a long long time I'm so glad to know that other people see the amazing talent they have. I highly suggest for everyone to check them out.

I just released an EP of witch-house / drag-influenced hiphop. It's a free download, third EP in a trilogy.

Enjoy! I'd love to know what folk thought.

these are my top ten favorite rap/hip-hop artists/groups in no particular order:

-Andre Nickatina + Equipto + Bored Stiff (Dre Dog is dope alone or with Equipto, Equipto has so many different styles based on who he's rapping with but his solo stuff particularly Vintage Vol 3 is more chill-out good vibes hip-hop than any of his other projects except maybe some of the stuff he's done with Bored Stiff which is his group.)
-MF DOOM *aka DOOM *aka Madvillain *aka DangerDoom *aka Viktor Vaughn *aka King Geedorah of Monsta Island Czars *aka Zev Love X of KMD (This fool is just crazy as fuck and really got me into hip-hop and had me seeing it as more of an experiment art than just some poetry over beats, yeah some folks say he's lazy and maybe his production sucks to some, but I honestly feel he's one of the most intriguing and unique mc's I've heard with a very unique flow and delivery.)
-OFWGKTA (Yeah yeah, bandwagon shit, whatever. These guys are a fuckin' trip but a lot of it is a bit darker than I prefer, so I tend to gravitate a lot more toward MellowHype, Domo Genesis, and Mike G than the rest but Tyler makes some gnarly shit too.)
-Aesop Rock (Crazy guy makes some of more literate hip-hop I've ever heard and his beats are usually fairly diverse, a good place to start with him is Labor Days then work your way backwards and when you finish Appleseed get started on None Shall Pass then work backwards.)
-Why? (Trippy music, very very trippy music, not exactly traditional hip-hop either but it's obviously an immense influence.)
-Deep Puddle Dynamics (The best of anticon, sorry, but this groups The Taste of Rain... Why Kneel? is some of most amazing shit I've ever heard. Not only that, try and get your hands on a copy [digital or otherwise] of We Ain't Fessin/More From June and listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzfvMlxKpVs)
-Jedi Mind Tricks (Start at The Psychosocial Chemical Biological and Electromagnetic Manipulation of Human Consciousness and keep going. Stoupe is a fucking genius, this guy makes some crazy as shit beats and Vinnie Paz is a short fat little angry man who just kinda yells his raps but somehow it works. Almost every release from them has been solid as fuck.)
-Wu-Tang Clan ('Nuff said. 36 Chambers or bust.)
-Scarub (Amazingly good jazzy hip-hop that is really pleasant to just kick back to and chill out. Also a member of the Living Legends collective which I STRONGLY recommend if you don't know about them already as well as the lesser known 3MG or 3 Melancholy Gypsies with Murs and Eligh [if I'm not mistaken?])
-Grouch + Sunspot Jonz (I know it's two completely different cats who don't even work with eachother but they're loosely a part of the same collective and both really amazingly chill artists. They're both on that positive conscious rap tip so it's always just a nice thing to listen to. I think you guys would probably be more into Sunspot Jonz but Grouch's work with Eligh is dope too.)

There are some other noteworthy people out there so I'll come back to this at some point with some other names to look out for.

I really enjoy this kind of hiphop too, it's kind of comic book inspired and the way they sample like old b-movies and stuff. I think that it's related to witch house in the sense that it's experimental and underground. Also the beat conductor Madlib is a good tip (him and MF DOOM is Dangerdoom), and his alter ego Quasimoto.

Lex Luger is great, I'll probably be trying to make w/h with Luger type/generic trap beats in the near future.

What is this exactly? I recognize a few of the instrumentals, but none of the rapers.
