This is Jungle... not Drum & Bass. BOH!

Post Posted

Anyone else have a soft spot for Golden Age mid-to-late 90s Jungle?

My first taste was sweet and I still get weak in knees when I hear that chopped up Amen and that resampled 808 kick bass. The first record I owned was a Jungle press, and it remains my favorite genre of all time to date.

Anyone else dig it?

:edit:

This was my first 12" Ellis D - One For the Ladies / You Got To Believe

Alas I am far too young and good looking to have been buying records at the time but I also have a big soft spot for the jungle. Think there must be quite a few of us on here given the amount hardcore/rave drag remixes around. Fav has to be Dillinja's remix of Azura by 808 State just for the mad-as-fuck drop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_qqZ_VXUm4

Oh and for a real Junglist WH mash give a listen to 'Ashay - Warn-U (Nguzunguzu Remix)'

That's some pretty sweet old school Jump Up.

Heh, I'm only 23, and I didn't start buying records until I was 17. I got the aforementioned record on Ebay for $2 to start my collection off on the right foot.

Big fan of all of the "hardcore continuum" of music. But the 94-96 era holds a special place in my heart for sure.
The combination of raw and soulful was the best.

Here's a mix i recorded along those lines this past winter:
