Ghost Drone Edits and the new trend
So I'm sure everyone's probably come across this "Justin Bieber slowed down 800%" or some variation of it (I've seen a few now)....who wants to bet someone came across the MSV ghost drone edits of Lady Gaga and decided to do the same?
Re: Ghost Drone Edits and the new trend
agree, however I do enjoy Nike7UP's edits... who else made em?
Re: Ghost Drone Edits and the new trend
btw. was it MSV who came up with the whole Ghost Drone idea ?

I think they coined the term, but of course other people have made slowed down remixes before.zin wrote:btw. was it MSV who came up with the whole Ghost Drone idea ?

ghost droning songs is so fun and easy. its exciting hearing how they sound.
but theyre better when theyre edited beyond just slowing them down

I can say I'm not really much of a fan of most of the stretched tracks I've heard unless the process results in pulling out some interesting texture not obvious in the original, or takes the listener out of the normal listening constraints in a way that advances the concept of music on a whole... the idea of that is interesting and even important for music. With that in mind, we played around with the Paul Stretch tool and our original compositions a little while back. This was the best result created:

Re: Ghost Drone Edits and the new trend
For the main idea on ghost drone (as Mater Suspiria Vision coined the term) it was not only to slow tracks down (drag) or stretch them. Moreover (for the MSV ones) it's to slow them down (even in different speeds like "Paparazzi (ghost drone edit)) and make a live modulation on it with reverb fx devices - so you can destroy the tracks at the parts you want. So this has more to do with original noise/drone than just cheap computer programs to stretch or slow down tracks.
Just to make things clear.
