After years of waiting, SAIN't has finally delivered his debut LP for Blvsphemy Records. Drawing from the club-ready witch trance, furthest corners of dark synthwave, as well as heavier and more menacing sounds, "B.C." is a well-rounded album that serves as a bold (re)introduction to SAIN'ts music.
While the album opener "Tranquilo Assen Na Yo Evil'' may not be the strongest or most memorable part on the album, the two tracks that follow it are absolutely amazing. “Now I Lay” employs shouty, vocal fry and sets it against a melodic, almost uplifting music background, while "Hell Raiser" is a gloom-rap anthem, a crossover between syruppy rap from SALEM's Jack and more comprehensible flow of Trip Cult on tRap. On "The Woman in Black" SAIN't playfully operates between faded singing and murky whispers over pulsing darkwave beats, once again proving how versatile his range is when it comes to adding vocals to his compositions. The second half of the LP sits somewhere between the blood rave scene in Blade ("Dust to Dust" and "Kick the Cradle") and the soundtrack to a lonely walk home at night after a party ("Rain in Hell" and "Crying Blood").
The production on "B.C.", consciously or not, shares some similarities with Ritualz beats, especially his post-Disaro works. But while copycats fail to acknowledge the thin line between plagiarism and authenticity, SAIN't artfully carves his own style of energetic and ominous witch house. "B.C." is a great follow up to SAIN'ts previous EPs, exploring further his own take on the genre and proving that the Blvsphemy crew has one of the strongest line-ups in the game right now.
