Released at 12AM of the 12th of the 12th 2012, with 12 tracks, I present to you the second side of my "mixtape " from this year.
Instead of drooling empty bragadoccio for my fingers I'm simply going to give you a track by track rundown of what to expect.
1. BIND
"Paint me as a dead soul, when it dries no place to go" - it shouldn't surprise you, with that Crowley reference that lately I've been listening to a lot of Coil and Current 93. Contains the orthodox witch house synth sound.
2. BACKWARDS
A matching of post-dubstep (eurgh) beats with Durutti Column type guitar. Think Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac joining The Xx.
3. JANUARY
A piano ballad of unkept and unkempt promises recorded on analogue tape.
4. LEAVE TONIGHT
Krautrock meets straight up rawk. Warning - contains aspirational lyrics and unabashed guitar riffing.
5. DESTROY (SHE SAID)
Previously remixed by Nullse+, a rejected track from an EP by a post-dubstep label. Yes there's a Death In June reference in the title. Distortion pedal synths, overdrive on the vocals, Neptunes influenced beats. Some witch 2step in here.
6. MADMAN'S DREAM
As remixed by Nullse+, does what it says on the tin. Witch 2step anyone?
7. RUNAWAY
Going all neo-soul on you, well, neo-soul as sung by a Mancunian goth instead of some twee Hoxton accentless nitwit.
8. KEEP THIS TOGETHER
Imagine if Morrissey heard of witch house, or for that matter anything made after 1978, and stopped being a daft racist. More witch 2step.
9. THE FAILING LIGHT
Guitar scape about my failures as a human being.
10. ON THAT HILLSIDE
Recorded to analogue tape, a Pirate Radio Ghost that Depeche Mode wouldn'tve kicked off Black Celebration. Contains orthodox witch house synth sound.
11. FATHER FIRE, MOTHER EARTH
Warning - highly personal lyrics and dubby bass.
12. THE LOVERS THAT NEVER WERE
Then Lindsey Buckingham takes over my body again.
I've done a track by track rundown because it just seems to demand it. Why not give it a spin (figuratively of course unless you burn it onto a disc).
