Re: Dubstep
i really dislike dubstep. most people i know like it in some way or another. the closest things to dubstep ive heard and liked where balam acab and monoliths))).
i was super turned off by the genre because of the kids down here in Salem MA who can be seen around campus playing basshead or bassnectar or whatever its called and that boregore (borgore?) (i think) guy from their portable ipod speakers and playing hacky sack or talking about raving or something gey . none of the links i see here really sound like any of that rubbish though so maybe ive had the wrong idea.

Re: Dubstep/UK Garage/Etc.
Yes. Borgore and Bassnectar really aren't the style of dubstep we're talking about here. Some more stuff for you to listen to:
Skream - Trapped in a Dark Bubble
Skream - Burnin' Up - Obviously much of a jungle tune, but so good.
Appleblim & Ramadanman - Justify
Peverlist - The Grind
2562 - Moog Dub
One last one from my favorite and, in my opinion, the master of heavy bass music....
Shackleton - Deadman
Labels to get into: Apple Pips, Skull Disco, Tectonic, Tempa : There's a ton more, but that'll get you started.

Re: Dubstep/UK Garage/Etc.
Yeah, I can respect that. Sadly, less and less good dubstep is being made. I've been personally very into the more 2-steppy/housey bass stuff for the last year or two:
Deadboy - If U Want Me
Julio Bashmore - Battle for Middle You - Lord of the Rings inspired tune!
Doc Daneeka - Mario's Mushrooms
CRST - Good Love - Proper UK garage!
Breach - Fatherless (Doc Daneeka Remix)
Cooly G - Oi Dirty ft. DVA - Love Cooly G and DVA. They produce some of the strangest house music I've ever heard.

Burial, FTW. Although collaborating with Thom Yorke may be overkill.

Yeah, but those tracks are amazing.ƧƆỴ†ɧЄ wrote:Burial, FTW. Although collaborating with Thom Yorke may be overkill.
New Burial lives up to the hype.
Re: Dubstep/UK Garage/Etc.
True, I just hope he doesn't turn "pop".
Did anyone mention Mary Anne Hobbs yet? She's great for the scene and a good DJ too.

Thom's vocals usually annoy me, but Four Tet's efforts definitely helped offset that.
