Two years after quite excellent "Canon", we get fourth LP from Berlin's Bow Church. The album opens with a cinematic ambient synth piece that could serve as an updated theme for Spielberg's "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind", and at 3min mark mutates into an almost-Drexciyan synthwave head-nodder. This otherworldly feel will then stay with the listener until the very end, enriched with post-punk energy and elements of psychedelic electro and industrial EBM. One thing that I'd love to hear more on this LP is vocals, either sampled or recorded. They work amazingly (even though scarcely used) on "Migrate", elevating the song and making me wish for more. Overall, "The Spirits..." is an amazing trip of an album, even though it drifts further and further from Bow Church's witch house roots, it's still a fantastic sonic experience. Support!
