Mater Suspiria Vision - Virgins Of The Apocalypse (2012)
1. Virgins Of The Apocalypse (41:11)
Back in September 2010 Mater Suspiria Vision released a Soundcloud single "Theme From Picnic At Hanging Rock" (later on re-released in December on the excellent 2CD album "House Of The Witches"). For all the movie's alluring beauty and mystery, because it's the 1975 film that's sampled in the track, it's easy to understand why this Australian cult classic could serve as inspiration for a witch house project. But it's the 2012 mixtape "Virgins Of The Apocalypse" that pays a full hommage to the movie, with its 41-min play time, the composition is a hypnagogic trip soaking in the mist of unknown and haunted. Twin Peaks-like, the MSV take on "Picnic..." is full of creepy turns, drowsy what ifs, and seducing moments sampled throughout. The CD was originally released with the Vogue Witch newspaper/postermag #4 and limited to 50 copies.
